What is a glass dubbing and radius device
The dubbing and radius device is composed by two spindles on each side, one with a peripheral diamond wheel and the other with a peripheral polishing wheel, placed at the exit of a double edger (second machine in the case of a line).
The dubbing device allows the creation of chamfers and bevels with rough and polished edges.
The novelty of the Schiatti radius dubbing device
The radius dubbing device was designed as one of the many optionals of Schiatti's double edgers, but besides being an upgrade for the machine, it represents a real innovation in the field, to the point that a patent application has been filed for its unique operation.
One of its innovative features is that its components’ movement is electronically controlled and directly managed by the PLC.
Machining operations that can be performed with the Schiatti dubbing and radius device
The device performs 45° chamfers with a maximum size of 25 x 25 mm and a circular chamfer (radius) with a maximum diameter of 10 mm.
Difference between the Schiatti dubbing and radius device and others
Compared to the others on the market, our dubbing and radius device separates the diamond spindle from the polishing spindle, simplifying their movement along one axis and using the glass as other axis.
Advantages of the Schiatti dubbing and radius device
The core of the system is the reading of the glass position. As the glass passes through, special devices directly read the position of the sheet relating to that of the corresponding spindle.
The result is an advantage in terms of:
- Increased efficiency and productivity: glass positioning during the processing can be kept closer together
- Time saving: less moves and less tool changes
- Better quality: moving the spindle along a single axis allows us to use a more rigid and compact spindle that improves the quality
- Greater precision: thanks to direct reading of the glass position
- Compensation of squaring errors: thanks to the single spindle reading device
