Another happy end to a career and working life all (or almost all) spent at Schiatti!
Class of 1963. Walter arrived here in 1986, with a diploma as a mechanical designer and previous work experience as a general worker.
The feeling between Walter and the company was born from the first meeting and he immediately started his new career on drawing-scale transparencies.
How were you welcomed in the company?
The working environment at Schiatti has always been comfortable, proactive and stimulating and the colleagues were friendly and helpful. When I had the chance to do the job I had studied for, it seemed like a dream.
What has happened to your working position over all these years?
I have continued to grow, perfect my technique and better myself. Of course, over time, the tools at my disposal have also changed and improved. I have happily learnt the new digital modes of 2D and 3D drawing.
Is there anything you don't like about your work?
The urgent matters. It is normal that some urgent requests overlap with scheduled work but, being a perfectionist, I get nervous when I have to switch my attention from a demanding project to solve a task.
If you had to describe yourself with an adjective?
I would say that I am meticulous, methodical, precise and constant. They sound like flaws but in my job these qualities can also be strengts!
Do you know how your colleagues call you?
I am curious (smiles).
Walter is the 'question man', because facing with a project, he brings out all the questions that will help to improve it, to avoid difficulties, to find new solutions.
Colleagues also say that Walter is a considerable experienced person, with a complete vision of the work.
An episode do you happily remember?
It is my first partecipation at Glasstech (the trade Fair in Germany), but also I enjoied all the company seasonal meetings: important moments of sharing and fun.
What you are going to do during your retirement?
I’ll do what I like: walking, running, hiking, swimming, go by bicycle and reading, although I know I will miss the Company.
